Biowaste Cook Tank Replacement
The Period of this contract is from contract award through to March 31, 2021
Replace the existing biowaste cooker tank in the CFIA Lab 93 Mt. Edward Road, Charlottetown, PE , which has reached the end of its service life, with a new dimensionally equivalent tank constructed from materials better suited for the application. Upgrade biowaste treatment controls to increase batch volume.
The replacement cooker tank is to be used by a DFO research group (Gulf Biocontainment Unit, GBU) that is located in leased space within a CFIA laboratory facility in Charlottetown. GBU operates a high level biocontainment facility that conducts bench-level and live animal trials involving work with high risk aquatic animal pathogens (viruses, bacteria, parasites) and aquatic animals that are brought to the facility from Canadian and international sources.

Cooker Tank – Biowaste treatment tank using high pressure and temperature to inactivate organisms in waste water prior to discharge to municipal sewer.
