TWO PHASE SELECTION PROCESS
This is the first phase (Phase 1) of a two-phase competition: the first phase will evaluate the qualifications of all bidders; second phase (Phase 2) will invite the qualified bidders to provide a financial bid on the project based on the specifications and drawings. Upon award of contract in Phase Two the pre-qualification list will be terminated, no additional contracts will be awarded.
The work covered consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for the repair of the marginal wharf at Norris Point, NL in strict accordance with specifications and accompanying drawings and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.
In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:
Partial or total demolition and removal of required components, as detailed on accompanying drawings.
Replacement of existing wood cross bracing at the wood pile wharf.
Replacement of horizontal wales along the wood pile wharf structure.
Replacement of the vertical wood fenders as detailed on drawings.
Repair of existing wood piles as detailed on accompanying drawings.
Installation of new ladders as indicated on drawings.
Replacement of existing wheel guards as detailed on drawings.
Partial resurfacing of the existing concrete deck as detailed on drawings and specifications.
Repair of existing expansion joints in concrete deck.
Remove existing jib crane, complete repairs to the existing deck and anchor bolt system as per drawings.
Refurbish existing Type A concrete mooring cleats anchor block.
Familiarization With Site
Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings to review and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, materials necessary for the completion of the works, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account of error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.
Contractors, bidders or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 28 - Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
