The Lasalle Causeway is located in Kingston, Ontario and carries Highway 2 over the Cataraqui River within the City of Kingston, providing a critical transportation link between the downtown area on the west side of the river with the Barriefield/CFB Kingston area on the east side of the river. The main objective of this rehabilitation project is to replace the open steel grating deck system and supporting sills and stringers, rehabilitate the main trunnion steel plates and strengthen the structural steel members of the adjacent trusses, and reface the exterior concrete surface and balancing pockets of the concrete counterweight. The rehabilitation work also necessitates the removal and re-installation of multiple conduits, junction boxes, and other electrical and mechanical components. Following the work, balancing and commissioning of the bridge will be required to ensure successful operation.
