Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) Suffield Research Centre is pursuing the development of a color change-based chemical agent disclosure system that allows the user to locate and qualitatively measure the amount of chemical warfare agent (CWA) contamination on a surface. The objective of this work is to develop and formulate device prototypes including surface wipes, swabs and wipes using demonstrated color-changing NBP dyes, and test their use characteristics and performance for detecting the presence of CWAs and CWA simulants on military-relevant surfaces.
