F6081-230561 - Lightweight Profiling CTD

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) in Newfoundland Labrador Region, in support of research and advice relating to Fisheries, Aquaculture, Marine Protected Areas and Marine Conservation requires the purchase of a profiling CTD (Conductivity, Temperature, Depth sonde). This instrument will provide baseline coastal oceanographic information that has been identified as a knowledge gap in the provision of advice in key DFO coastal areas in the Newfoundland and Labrador marine environment. This instrument will be used to collect in situ water quality profiles of physicochemical data during vessel surveys that will pair with the collection of additional biological and physical water parameters to address knowledge gaps of the current state of coastal marine environments in Newfoundland and Labrador. This instrument provides information on the status of critical elements of the marine environment, marine food webs and their trends caused by climate change or other environmental or human factors.
