DFO requires an acoustic doppler profiler for measures of stream discharge as a key environmental variable for environmental DNA (eDNA) field studies. DFO is conducting surveys across more than 100 streams over the next two years and will need discharge measures at all of these sites. Many of the sites are not wadable, which necessitates the tethered boat option. This equipment will be used for future eDNA field work to support development of eDNA as a tool for estimating abundance of salmon for habitat and stock assessment purposes.
