    Description
AGI - Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of approximately 10 billion dollars of provincially owned water management infrastructure. The Cypress Hills Area manages numerous dams including Extreme and Very high consequence structures as well as conveyance canals and other water management infrastructure. This infrastructure provides water security for irrigation districts, water user co-ops for agricultural water supply, commercial businesses, domestic consumption, municipalities, recreational partners, Alberta parks and other individual users. Maintenance and repair work for this infrastructure is critical and is an ongoing focus of the Branch. Earthwork canals and embankments are prone to build up of siltation; sloughing of cut and fill slopes; and settlements in embankment fills. Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB) requires a general contractor that can deliver a wide array of specialized maintenance services, labour, and equipment in a timely manner, to meet some of the complex operational and maintenance requirements of these diverse water management projects. The typical activities that could be included are outlined in Appendix B. Some of these work activities may require oversight from a Consultant Engineer for design and quality assurance. Involvement of a Consultant Engineer, if required, will be provided by the province separately, and the Consultant Engineer’s oversight would vary from project to project. The RFP is for general earthworks to conduct maintenance and repair work as directed by AGI from a prioritized project list following standardized best practices or from a supplied design. The work will be completed within 100km of Medicine Hat in the Cypress Hills Area. Projects could be at any of the following locations and their related infrastructure: • Bare Creek Dam • Bullshead Dam • Cavan Dam • Elkwater Dam • Spruce Coulee Dam • Reesor Dam • Mackay Dam • McAlpine Dam • Cressday Dam • Cypress View Dam • Michel Dam • Ambrose Dam • Granlea Dam and • Jaydot Dam The successful proponent will complete work activities to an upset limit. AGI will meet with the successful proponent to verify the scope of work for each project. The Contractor will prepare detailed estimates based on the verified scope of work for each project.

    Contract duration

The estimated contract period will be 20 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2024/07/22.
