Description
a) Project Background - The Provincially-owned Little Bow Headworks System located in the Town of High River on the Highwood River is essential to provide a secured water supply for irrigation, industrial, municipal and domestic uses throughout the Little Bow drainage basin.
A key component of this system is a Fish Exclusion System located on the canal just downstream of the diversion headgates. This system removes fish from the canal and pumps them back into the Highwood River, ensuring the impacts of this system on the aquatic environment and specifically native fish species are effectively mitigated. Four (4) pumps and electric motors are in service as key components of this system and require maintenance under the scope of the required Services. This contract will ensure that these components are repaired, are operating effectively and maintained to extend service life and ensure reliable operation.
b) Project Objectives – This project requires the services of a specialized contractor to service four (4) PACO model 6095-1 LF pumps, and four (4) Siemens RGZP 40 HP electric motors as per the manufacturer’s recommendations and industry best practices. Details of these units are included in the attached Specifications document (Appendix D).
The units are to be inspected, tested and assessed to determine additional wear items and plan for maintenance and/or replacement of components as required including seals and bearings. The work plan will be reviewed by the Contract Manager and will require sign-off and acceptance prior to the Contractor proceeding with the work. The mechanical systems will require repairs, re-build as required, proper lubrication and re-installation. Following re-installation, the units are to be field tested and performance verified to ensure continued reliable operation with QA/QC documentation provided to the Contract Manager.
In addition to servicing the pumps and motors, the Province requires testing of the 4 variable frequency drive (VFD) units. Complete details are included in the attached specifications document (Appendix D).
c) Project Structure/Business Model - This Contract will be administered by Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation (AGI), Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB) located in Calgary, AB.
d) Key Stakeholders – Key stakeholders of this water infrastructure includes the general public and water users on the Little Bow River system.
e) Related Project Documents – Selected as-built drawings, and manufacturer specifications (Appendix D) will be provided.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 3 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2024/10/30.
