Town of Sexsmith - Request for Proposal - SEXSMITH STORMWATER DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT WORKS DETAILED ENGINEERING DESIGN PHASE - II

The Town of Sexsmith is a small rural community with a drainage basin that flows into Sexsmith Creek, a part of the Kleskun Lake drainage basin. The Town has experienced several storm and spring melt events that have had a negative impact on the drainage system as well as public and Town infrastructure. The Town completed the Stormwater Master Plan and Basin Study which identified a range of stormwater drainage and flood mitigation works that will protect the Town from local and regional flooding. Projects completed in Phase I included: • Improvements to the Sexsmith Creek channel, particularly the existing culverts that are a restriction to the flow or in poor condition. • Raising and extending the levy around a major wetland to protect adjacent development from flooding and separating the local stormwater drainage system from the regional flood-prone areas. • Construction of a new drainage system to help alleviate the surcharging of an existing system. • Culvert upgrades to alleviate restrictions along Sexsmith Creek downstream of the Town and crossing the CN railway. In Phase II, the Town would like to complete the detailed engineering design required to implement a Supplemental Project that includes 101 and 106 Street as well as 95th Ave Drainage improvements to further enhance the water flow stabilization and flood mitigation capacity of the Project.
