Northern Lakes College is inviting firms with demonstrated experience completing commercial mechanical upgrades in Post-Secondary institution buildings, and that are licensed to practice in the Province of Alberta to respond to this Request for Proposal (RFP) for Mechanical Prime Contractor Services.
The Mechanical scope of the NLC Peavine Campus Replacement project includes, but is not limited to, retrofitting existing relocated modulars to suit the new site and sustainability goals as per the design drawing and specifications.
PLUMBING:
The work includes removal of all existing gas and domestic water piping, and portions of the sanitary piping from the crawlspace. Two lavatories will be removed from service, and a sink will be relocated.
New domestic water and sanitary services will be brought into the building. New, insulated domestic water piping will be distributed in the ceiling space of the modular and reconnected to the plumbing fixtures. New sanitary will be run from new drain locations in mechanical rooms and from a new sink to the new building cleanout. Vent piping will be revised as required to meet NPC 2020.
HVAC:
The work includes removing the existing furnace systems including condensing units, humidifiers and flues, and replacing them with vertical heat pumps and energy recovery ventilators. The heat pumps will be connected the existing distribution ductwork from the furnace systems, and to the new geothermal field being installed on the site.
Wall mounted electric heaters will be installed to provide backup heating.
The geothermal system will be installed in the throughout the building including pumps, tanks, manifolds, distribution piping and other valves and appurtenances as required to make the system operation.
The system will be commissioned by the contractor and be balanced for both water and air.
CONTROLS:
All existing thermostat controls will be removed and replaced with new BMS controls from Ainsworth. The BMS system is to interface with the Northern Lakes College. The contractor is to provide all components and wiring to make the system operational in accordance with the sequences and specifications, also including a monitor with energy performance dashboard data displayed.

The estimated contract period will be 2 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2024/09/19.
