Description
SAIT is inviting experienced and qualified Proponents of Construction Management Services 240084 FY25 ABSA Compliance Boiler# 3 solutions to respond to this RFP.
The intent is to select the appropriate Proponent(s) and solution for:
SAIT’s power plant houses three large industrial boilers nearing the end of their service life. Steam generated by these boilers is used for space heating, humidity and domestic hot water for fourteen (14) SAIT campus buildings, Alberta University of Arts (AuArts) and Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium (Jubilee).
One of the boilers (boiler #3) is in a critical state and must be replaced to ensure redundancy of the campus heating system. This boiler was installed in 1972 and is past its estimated life expectancy of 30 years.
In the past 3 years, Facility Management has attempted multiple repairs of the boiler’s leaky tubes, steam drum and furnace. The nature of these repairs indicates the seriousness of the situation and a significant risk of boiler #3 becoming inoperable.
Loss of the boiler #3 will lead to SAIT’s inability to maintain building occupancy comfort for students, staff, partners and stakeholders. The remaining equipment is an inadequate source of heating for the entire campus, should the boiler #3 go off-line.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 36 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2024/11/29.
