Town of Hinton - Request for Proposal - Aquatics Accessibility Enhancements

This Request for Proposals (the “RFP”) is an invitation by the Town of Hinton (“the Municipality”) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for Aquatic Accessibility Enhancements as further described in Section A of the RFP Particulars (Appendix D) (the “Deliverables”). Location of Work: Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre in Hinton, AB (805 Switzer Drive, T7V 1V1); Aquatics Center (“Pool”). From an audit conducted by the Lifesaving Society in June of 2024: “At the time of the audit it was noted that accessibility could be improved within the facility (e.g. electronic push buttons on changeroom doors). It is recommended that applicable to the region and Alberta Building Code, to increase the accessibility for customers utilizing the aquatic facility. It is important to meet minimum accessibility standards to provide a safe and welcoming environment.” Key upgrades include installing automatic door openers for both changing rooms to facilitate easy access for individuals with mobility challenges. The Aquatic Centre has two (2) changerooms that each have their own door for entry, and each door needs a push-button for accessible entry.
