Closing date and time 2025/08/12 12:00 EDT
Description
The City is seeking consulting services to conduct laboratory testing and establish a site-specific chronic nitrate guideline for the Bow River within city limits.
Currently, the nitrate levels discharged from The City's wastewater treatment plants are projected to produce instream concentrations that exceed Alberta’s environmental quality chronic toxicity guideline for protecting aquatic life. The risk of chronic nitrate toxicity is expected to increase due to ongoing population growth, and climate change.
This project includes three main tasks aimed at facilitating the accurate evaluation of nitrate toxicity risks posed to the Bow River by The City’s wastewater treatment plants:
1. Laboratory Testing.
2. Toxicity Values Derivation.
3. Site-specific Nitrate Guideline Development.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 27 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2025/09/30.
