University of Calgary - Advanced Contract Award Notice / Notice of Proposed Procurement - Maternal Birthing Simulator

The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the MamaAnne Manikin, with on-site installation, an extended warranty and on-site course getting started, from Laerdal Medical Canada. The UCalgary’s Advanced Technical Skills Simulation Laboratory (ATSSL) currently uses Laerdal SimMan 3G manikins operated through Laerdal’s LLEAP software. To ensure compatibility, operational efficiency, and minimize staff training requirements, ATSSL requires the Laerdal MamaAnne manikin to replace the existing Gaumard Noelle model. The MamaAnne manikin operates on the same LLEAP software platform, allowing existing SimMan cases (themes) to be transferred directly without additional programming. Laerdal Medical is the sole manufacturer of both SimMan 3G and MamaAnne, as well as the sole provider of installation, education, technical services, and support for the equipment. They are the only certified and authorized entity to provide service and maintenance on Laerdal equipment. It is the training facility’s understanding that Laerdal Medical is the only vendor capable of providing both the equipment and the associated support services.
