Alberta Energy Regulator - Advanced Contract Award Notice / Notice of Proposed Procurement - 285-NPP Precambrian Geothermal Mapping_Thermophysical Study

Subject to this NPP, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) intends to enter into an agreement with GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences for specialized laboratory testing of rock thermal, petrophysical and mineralogical properties. The AER deems GFZ the uniquely qualified candidate for these services due to GFZ’s leading-edge expertise in thermophysical testing for geothermal applications and the organization’s proven capability to deliver high-quality, reliable thermal data critical to subsurface assessments. GFZ has demonstrated its technical capability and methodological consistency by successfully completing an initial round of thermal analyses on 23 Precambrian and sedimentary rock samples for the Alberta Geological Survey, ensuring that continuing the work with GFZ will maintain data comparability and continuity for this project.
