University of Calgary - Advanced Contract Award Notice / Notice of Proposed Procurement - Benchtop Solution for Multiplex Protein Measurements

The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the Olink Signature Q100 instrument, along with Olink Target/Flex/Focus training kit, service agreement, software, and accessories from Olink Proteomics AB. The Applied Spatial Omics Centre (ASOC) facility at UCalgary requires the Olink Q100 instrument to support advanced proteomic analyses essential to ongoing research in biomarker discovery, translational medicine, and clinical collaboration. The Q100 platform employs Olink’s proprietary Proximity Extension Assay (PEA) technology, which enables highly specific and quantitative multiplexed protein detection from minimal sample volumes. This technology is patented and exclusively manufactured, distributed, and supported by Olink Proteomics. Acquiring the Q100 system is also to ensure compatibility with the facility’s existing Olink technology ecosystem, including previously acquired Olink panels, reagents and data processing software. The Q100 system uniquely integrates with Olink Insight and NPX data formats, ensuring data continuity, reproducibility, and interoperability across existing projects and collaborative networks. Due to the proprietary nature of the hardware, reagents, and software, ASOC has determined that no equivalent instrument can provide direct interchangeability or preserve data continuity. Based on this comprehensive evaluation, it is the Centre’s understanding that Olink Q100 is the only instrument that can meet their operational, technical, and research requirements without disrupting active and planned studies, and Olink Proteomics is the only vendor able to supply and service the Q100 instrument, including calibration, warranty support, and software updates.
