University of Calgary - Advanced Contract Award Notice / Notice of Proposed Procurement - Mechanical Universal Testing Machine

The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the Universal Testing Machine (UTM) Model 25ST, load cell, single machine horizon software package and Vector extensometer from Tinius Olsen Testing Machine Company. Tinius Olsen model 25ST is designed for tension, compression, flexure and shear strength testing on materials and assemblies. The robust design incorporates quality materials and components and ensures superior system performance, ease of use, and long- term durability. The UCalgary Mechanical Engineering Department currently utilizes Tinius Olsen equipment with the Horizon Testing Software and requires new Materials Testing Machines from Tinius Olsen to ensure compatibility with their existing setup, allowing students to use the machines interchangeably. The units are being used in tandem with 8 other Tinius Olsen UTMs which allow for fixtures, testing apparatus, and results to be directly compared between each other. Continuing with Tinius Olsen product ensures seamless software and hardware integration between the new machines and the existing equipment. This compatibility also allows the Undergraduate labs to use all equipment concurrently without requiring additional or alternative training, as the software remains consistent across all equipment.
