Description
The University of Calgary intends to purchase a Long Range (50KM) All-Wheel Drive Tesla Y.
This vehicle was selected due to its commercially available platform, featuring hardware 4 (AI4) which delivers 50 Trillions of Operations per Second (TOPS) of dedicated neural network inference. This allows the vehicle to process 360-degree vision data and execute autonomous maneuvers in real-time urban scenarios, such as intersection public road scenarios without pre-existing HD maps, unprotected left turns and multi-lane roundabouts. This is an important requirement for the research project.
