Description
To contract with Liburdi Turbine Services to acquire a Hybrid Laser system.
The University requires compatibility with an existing LAWS-250 Laser Directed Energy Deposition 2nd Gen. to allow in-situ monitoring between the two systems and laser sintering of dark ceramics for defense and nuclear applications. This customized laser hybrid AM system uses a 1 kW focused laser “deposition laser unit” to sinter/melt one or two materials (metals, ceramics, composites) as they are deposited via multiple nozzles. The system also has a 400-watt high pule fiber laser “ablation laser unit” that allows pulses for surface treatment and laser ablation for the processing of metallic and ceramic materials. The system uses a special integrated coupler for beam switch.
