Description
The Province invites Proposals from interested Proponents for the Block Delivery of Classroom Instruction to apprentices in the Hairstylist and Barber apprenticeship education programs in Calgary and Edmonton.
The Registrar appointed by the Minister of Advanced Education under the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act, is responsible for administering the delivery of the classroom and on-the-job instruction component of apprenticeship education programs and as such, administers the provision of Classroom Instruction for the Hairstylist and Barber apprenticeship education programs.
Apprentices in the Hairstylist program are required to complete two years of education (two 12-month periods), including a minimum of 1,450 hours of on-the-job training and 10 weeks of Classroom Instruction each year. Apprentices in the Barber program are required to complete one year of education (one 12-month period), including a minimum of 1,450 hours of on-the-job training and 10 weeks of Classroom Instruction. Hairstylist and Barber apprentices share a common first period of training.
As Hairstylist and Barber Classroom Instruction are not provided by public post-secondary institutions, the Classroom Instruction component of the Hairstylist and Barber apprenticeship education programs is delivered by Contractors in Calgary and Edmonton on a fee-for-service basis.
Classroom Instruction is based on the Advanced Education approved curriculum guide for the Hairstylist and Barber apprenticeship education program. At the end of each period of Classroom Instruction, AE administers a period examination to the apprentices.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 36 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2024/08/01.
