Description
The proposal should clearly outline the proponent’s understanding of the many ways that visitation and tourism impact the local economy and the provision of business, community, and municipal services; our facilities, built environment, outdoor spaces, and amenities; flow of people through the community, region, and recreation areas; opportunities to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders; and your approach to ensuring that community residents welcome visitors, recognize the impact of visitation on our community’s future, and understand the benefits of a growing tourism economy.The goals of the project include, but are not limited to, the following:
• To enhance visitors and residents’ ability to explore and navigate in the community and region;
• To direct and attract visitors to downtown and a broad range of recreation, arts, sports, cultural, businesses, services, and municipal or other government destinations from area highways, regional and other nearby visitor attractions;
• To support economic development and capture missed opportunities to support the arts, culture, heritage, entertainment, retail, food and beverage, and accommodation sectors;
• To ensure that visitors and residents achieve a good understanding of our City and region’s history, cultural heritage including First Nations history and presence, unique features, built environment, outdoor spaces, amenities, and future opportunities; and
• To enhance community pride
