Protozoans in Dairy Cattle
Solicitation number 185522

Closing date and time 2023/12/09 15:00 EST
Description
This transfer supports a project to identify the cause of spontaneous fetal abortions in cows (production animals) in BC’s Fraser Valley. Surprisingly, the initial research has shown there is a protozoan component to fetal abortions in cows because the Fraser Valley is a hot spot for protozoans. Protozoans are single-celled parasitic organisms (e.g., Giardia or Cryptosporidia). The project will advance the science of the identities of the protozoans and this information can be used to develop response and control strategies.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 16 month(s).
