The purpose of this RFSQ is to establish a list of Qualified Contractors that SFU will use to deliver specific requests for invitations to bid for work, or to directly award work at SFU’s Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver campuses.
Subject to the provisions of this RFSQ and other existing SFU rules and policies SFU intends to award work to Qualified Contractors on “as-and-when” basis. Work may include capital projects, repair, renewal, maintenance and emergency works, exterior additions/alterations, interior tenant improvements, retrofits as well as refurbishment projects. See RFSQ Section 2.3 for further details. By using a list of prequalified vendors SFU expects provide fair opportunity to Qualified Contractors as well as save time and effort in awarding these works.
Qualified Contractors will be required to work in compliance with all applicable laws, trade regulations and SFU policies, as may be amended from time to time, as well as terms of applicable Work Orders. Qualified Contractors will be expected to be available on short notice for priority repairs and be able to respond within 2 hours for emergency repairs. (2 hour duration from receipt of phone call to arrival on site.) -
The scopes of work may include, but not be limited to replacement, repair, servicing, maintenance, testing, preventative maintenance, demolition, and inspection and should adhere to ASHRAE 180 – 2018 Standard Practice for Inspection and Maintenance of Commercial Building HVAC Systems.

- Spectrographic oil analysis
- Pressurised leak test
- Chiller and Cooling Tower Winterization and De-Winterization
- Chiller and Cooling Tower Start up and Shutdown
- Condensing Cleaning
- Sump Cleaning
- Eddy Current tube analysis
- Pressure relief valve schedule
Please refer to Appendix “D” – RFSQ Submission Format” to prepare a submission that is compliant with the requirements of this RFSQ.Scope of Work. Work if requested will be situated in the SFU Burnaby campus.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 36 month(s).
