GSA26AG101 - Salmon River Water Consultant

In recent years, British Columbia has experienced a significant increase in drought conditions impacting the agriculture sector. The Salmon River (SR) watershed experienced Section 88. Fish Population Protection orders under the Water Sustainability Act in both 2021 and 2023. The Supplier is expected to: Build on the level of communication achieved between AF and producers during 2024, and advance discussions around community groups and/or solutions for the region Gather producer and regional crop information to support AF staff in drought response, increase understanding of water usage and agricultural impacts, community programs and initiatives and gaps in awareness of water use and suggest potential strategies to address concerns as they arise. Provided information as required at the Technical Drought Committee meetings, to help further understanding of regional conditions and potential regional drought response where possible. Liaise between collaborative groups and water users within the region to identify shared goals and help identify pathways to achieve these goals. Promote the BC Crop Reporter within the watershed, to further information collected. Organize, attend and provide accurate and applicable information in support of AF planned townhalls or information sessions, regional/community drought calls and workshops/meetings,  Aid in identifying funding for group formation, irrigation improvement or other community solutions to address impacts of drought Plan and facilitate on-farm/in field meetings or workshops for information sharing and knowledge transfer within the watershed Assist with identifying grant or other funding to foster community initiatives in the Watershed that are beneficial for multiple users as appropriate. Complete final report at the end of irrigation season to summarize work completed.
