Notice is hereby given that The Provincial Health Services Authority (“PHSA”) acting on its own behalf and as agent for each of the Fraser Health Authority, Interior Health Authority, Northern Health Authority, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, and Vancouver Island Health Authority (the “Health Authority(s)”), through their collective agent Provincial Health Services Authority (“PHSA”), intends to directly award a non-volume committed Contract to the following supplier to provide Allen® Hug-U-Vac® Steep Trend Positioner for use within BC Operating Rooms for a term of three (3) years and two (2) option years with an estimated spend of $781K.

In accordance with applicable trade agreements, PHSA, as agent for the Health Authority(s) has chosen not to proceed with a competitive process for the following reasondue to an absence of competition for technical reasons A review of existing provincial contracts for surgical positioning products and available market offerings did not identify any functionally equivalent product that meets the required clinical performance requirements for steep Trendelenburg positioning within the operating room environment.
AMT Surgical is the identified Canadian distribution channel for the Hug-U-Vac product line and provides the only known supply route for the product and associated disposable consumables within the Canadian market, supporting continuity of supply for participating Health Authority sites.
To ensure continued access to this clinically specialized surgical positioning system, maintain patient safety in high-acuity operative procedures, and ensure stable pricing and uninterrupted supply, PHSA intends to direct award this non-volume committed contract until such time a competitive procurement process is undertaken for future supply arrangements.
