Notice of Intent: Demolition and Abatement Services

Overview
The Board of Education of School District No. 44 (North Vancouver), (“SD44”) is
contemplating a direct award of contract to Dallas Watt Demo Ltd. for the provision of
services and required materials/equipment for the demolition of the annex at Lucas
Centre, in North Vancouver. The anticipated value of this work is $626,000 plus applicable
taxes.

This project encumbers considerable work, including but not limited to Hazardous
Materials, which have resulted from a major failure of building components including the
roof, building envelope and related.

Rationale for Contemplating Direct Award:
1. This project work is a “Phase 2” extension of previous and similar work completed
on this site which was performed by Dallas Watt Demo Ltd.
2. The current poor state of the building and urgency for work to be completed.
3. Considerations of the project scope, hazardous materials in the project and related
sensitivities for the safety and wellbeing of SD44 staff and stakeholders.
