Closing date and time 2026/08/12 17:00 EDT
Description
Pest and disease control in ornamental horticulture hinges on landscapers, growers and garden centres being aware of and taking precautions to prevent pests, to survey or monitor for them, and manage them if needed to prevent and reduce the risk of spread through lack of biosecurity or improper disposal methods.
Our changing climate and increases in trade and travel are contributing to the accelerated introduction of invasive species. In the last 3 years, there have been two significant new pest or disease introductions into BC. The Supplier needs to be vigilant in to ensure that our industry is not only protected from the pests, but that the industry does not contribute to pest and disease spread. Additionally, the Supplier members will need to take steps to future-proof their nursery or retail organizations by implementing programs to facilitate and maintain export opportunities.
