NOTICE OF INTENT - SLIT DRAINAGE INSTALLATION
Solicitation number BC24-167_TOL
Publication date
Closing date and time 2024/05/17 17:00 EDT
Description
Notice is hereby given by the Township of Langley (“the Township”) of the intent to contract with TDS West for the following services:
• Trenching and installation of 50mm diameter, 250mm depth slit drainage for 4 existing baseball fields, a Shelton Super trencher or Trench-It Wheel Trencher must be used, or pre-approved equal machinery.
• Trenching and installation of dual wall drainage collectors
Background: Slit drainage installation on existing fields with irrigation is very specialized work due to the complexity of the machinery required to do it quickly, leaving a narrow surface disturbance that can be rehabilitated over a minimal time period. As the four fields receiving improvements need to be playable by April 1, 2025, it is critical that the drainage work in question be completed promptly after July 15, 2024 (end of spring baseball season) and that the grass disturbance in minimized.
Funding and Council Approval: The Township has approved funding for the services as described above up to a limit of $261,000.00.
The Township intends to award these services to TDS West rather than proceed by competitive procurement because TDS West is the only known contractor in the Lower Mainland that owns and can expertly operate the required slit drainage equipment to fit drainage work into compressed construction windows.
Any Vendor wishing to object to this decision should email their objection by May 17, 2024, before 2:00pm, local time to:
Email: bidsinfo@tol.ca Attention: Chris Eirikson, Manager, Purchasing Services
An objection should include reasons, including the ability of the objecting Vendor to provide the most advantageous services considering particularly level of service, cost and schedule.
