    Description
    The Works are in the BC Timber Sales Seaward-tlasta Vancouver Island operating areas, including Holberg, Port Hardy, Port McNeill, Vernon Lake, and Mahatta.

    The proposed contract includes road and bridge maintenance, reactivation, reconstruction deactivation, brushing, and other maintenance activities on BCTS FSRs. Works may include the installation and removal of Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) Culverts, Wood Box Culverts (WBC), and bridges, hauling of spoils, development of rip rap and other road material, drilling and blasting of road construction material, brushing and grading of active FSRs and other maintenance activities. Works may occur on roads not managed by BCTS for the purpose of access to timber development.

    Road Maintenance Activities Will Include All the Following and Is Subject to Direction by The Contract Manager.Emergency response to repair storm damage Structural Road Repairs, Road Surface Repairs Bridge installs, maintenance, and removals Ditch cleaning Drainage structure installation and repairs Install or remove road barriers Removal of sloughs or slide material from the road prism Road Surface grading and berm removal Construct water bars and cross ditches Culvert inlet and outlet cleaning Re-establishing and/or installing sediment controls Supply and installation of erosion control at culvert inlets and outlets Gravel screening to produce surfacing material Placement of crush rock or gravel surfacing from stockpile or gravel pit Installation of Beaver Control Devices Application of Grass Seed and fertilizer Mix Roadside Mechanical Brushing WBC Maintenance Road Reactivation, Road Reconstruction. Purchasing or transporting western red cedar logs or Hw logs (see log bridge design and WBC design aid for log requirements) from designated storage yard or from supplier. End haul of organic waste and spoil in approved locations.
