Description
The proposed contract requires he construction of 1.390 km of forest service road, and the installation of a 42.6 m steel girder bridge complete with concrete panels starting at the end of the Copper River Forest Service Road (60.7 km). The road section from 60.7 to 61.4 consists of an existing road (722 m). This section has been fully brushed out and will require some reconstruction consisting of ditching, re-establishing the road surface and pullout construction as per attached designs. The new construction begins at 61.4 and the first 240 m is through regenerated 3-4 m tall timber. The remaining 474 m will be through mature timber. The Ministry will supply the 42.6 m bridge, concrete bridge panels, concrete ballast walls, pads, piles, and culverts necessary for the project located at the Ministry of Forest Yard in Terrace, B.C. Contractor is responsible for transporting all bridge materials to the site. The Ministry will provide a professional engineer to inspect, supervise and sign off on final bridge installation.
A crane will be supplied at the Ministry Yard to load the bridge components at the Ministry Yard.
Rip rap for the bridge is anticipated to come from the road construction or adjacent. As this cannot be guaranteed, bidders are asked to include a line bid for generating and hauling rip rap from an established pit at 57.2 km.
