Overview of the Work/Service Required
The BC Ministry of Forests (FOR) conducts an annual aerial overview survey to map damaging agents, using fixed-wing aircraft. The proposed contract requires that the contractor is skilled at recognizing and identifying from the air - local insect, disease and abiotic factors that may damage or kill trees and/or stands in southern interior of British Columbia. The contractor must identify, assign a code and accurately map these occurrences on maps (scale = 1:100,000). This Aerial Overview Survey and Pest Mapping, Cariboo Region Contract is for the Cariboo Region North: Quesnel, Cariboo-Chilcotin TSAs, and portions of the Robson Valley TSA and the Mid Coast TSAs (see contract document for map of survey area) in the Southern Interior Forest Region of British Columbia. This work is conducted each year from around early July to mid- to late-August (survey continues until complete, typically in mid-August). Once overview mapping has commenced each year, the contractor must be available every suitable flying day (clear and sunny skies), pending weather and aircraft availability, until the mapping is completed.
