Water Monitoring Framework for Collaborative Water Management

The Ministry of Forests is responsible for implementing the Water Sustainability Act. This requires monitoring and data collection to inform decision making under the legislation. There is a limited network of hydrometric (groundwater and surface water) and meteorological monitoring stations within K’ómoks First Nation’s traditional territory. Additional monitoring is needed to inform water use decisions within this area.  This information is intended to be used by Ministry of Forests and K’ómoks First Nation to collaborate on the management and stewardship of water resources within the defined area.
The deliverable for this contract will be submission of a final report that recommends a monitoring framework for the collection of hydrometric and meteorological data within a portion of K’ómoks First Nation’s traditional territory (see map attached). The development of the framework will be a collaborative process with Ministry of Forests staff and K’ómoks First Nation.
