West Sechelt Fuel Management Prescriptions Development

Description
The purpose of this project is to develop Fuel Management Prescriptions for selected units located in the Sechelt Area within the Sunshine Coast Natural Resource District. This project is funded through Crown Land Wildfire Risk Reduction (CLWRR), and the project areas will occur on provincial Crown land only.
These Fuel Treatment Units (FTU) were identified as areas with potential for the development of Fuel Management Prescriptions in the completed Lower Sunshine Coast WUI WRR Plan.
A Fuel Management Prescription is a plan produced by a forest professional detailing the recommended fuel management activities in an identified area to reduce overall fire behaviour. The expectation of this document is that the post treatment stand conditions will result in reduced fire behaviour, such as a decrease in fire intensity and the potential for sustained ignition.
