Description
Notice is hereby given that the Province of British Columbia, as represented by the Ministry of Attorney General is contemplating making a direct award of a contract to the South Peace Community Resources (the “Supplier”).
The high-level details of the contemplated contract are generally described below.
The Family Policy, Legislation, and Transformation Division (FPLTD) has received temporary funding from the federal Justice Partnership and Innovation Program to explore ways to improve the experience of families who have been impacted by family violence (specifically intimate partner violence) as they navigate the family justice system. The project is focused on the private family law system: Family Law Act in the Provincial Court.
The Exploring Safe Supports for Family Justice (Safe Supports) project will be implementing, monitoring, and evaluating prototypes between now and 2026.
This contract will be to deliver services on behalf of the Safe Supports by way of a support worker who will assist survivors of intimate partner violence with their Family Law Act matters in Provincial Court or as they access consensual dispute resolution services. These support workers will be positioned in existing community-based agencies that have expertise in providing in person supports to survivors of intimate partner violence in specific communities but have identified a lack of family law specific services.
This program will be situated in smaller northern centres with a strong anti-violence community, great need, and are otherwise underserved. The three communities are: Robson Valley, Dawson Creek, and Smithers / Hazleton.
