    Description
    The proposed contract seeks to engage a consulting company capable of providing a team of  Registered Applied Biologists and Technologists with qualifications in multiple practise areas.

    The objective of the services is to provide expertise to BC Timber Sales (BCTS) for the purposes of managing multiple environmental values within the context of forest development.  The services will be required on an “as needed” basis, throughout the Kootenay Business Area, with most of the work likely to be located within the Kootenay Lake (Nelson) and Arrow (Castlegar) areas.
    The specific services required will vary within both Terrestrial and Aquatic specialities (Fish, frogs, birds, grizzly and other wildlife).  Services may include conducting wildlife habitat assessments and performing environmental monitoring services and/or the provision of more general guidance. 

    The contract intends a high degree of collaboration between Registered Professional Biologists (RPBio) and Registered Professional Foresters (RPF) (BCTS OR CONTRACTOR) in the planning and management of multiple forest values. 
    Contract services will be assigned throughout the fiscal year to meet BCTS business and planning needs. The contract will be 2 Years in length, with Option to Renew for additional 2, single year terms. 
    Year 1 has already identified service needs:
    - Assessment for Rocky Mountain Tailed Frog (Kootenay Lake)
    - Nest Searching Survey for Northern Goshawk (Kootenay Lake, East Shore)

    Tender submissions must be submitted in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in the tender package.
        
    The lowest priced or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

    Be aware that BCTS has made changes to its EMS and SFM programs to meet the updated 2022 Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Forest Management Standard. Changes impacting BCTS clients include new training requirements (Table 008-1, 008-1A, Tailgate Training, SFI Awareness documents, and new Indigenous rights awareness training, as well as changes to training frequency and a new continuing education component). In addition, note changes to EMS/SFM Environmental Field Procedures and Incident Reporting Procedures which occurred June 1, 2022. 

    Supervisors and workers will need to be familiar with these changes prior to commencement of operations.
