Description
The intent of Project is to identify a Long Term Care (LTC) facility with the capacity to offer a distinct Hospice unit which will be in a facility that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, complete in every respect and ready to operate. This document identifies and describes important design elements. It is not intended to address every design element, and is intended to be flexible enough to allow for a variety of “best practice” building solutions that have a positive impact on service delivery and care outcomes.
In support of the Ministry of Health plan to increase community hospice beds, Island Health is interested in introducing six (6) Community Hospice beds in Nanaimo, BC.
