To eliminate the risk of bidder disqualification based on failure to re-submit in response to an Amendment, as required by the new BC Bid rules, BC Hydro has changed its practice as of November 24, 2022, such that all changes to BC Hydro (including Q&As and Addenda) are now treated as “Addenda” (and not “Amendments”) within the BC Bid rules and, as such, no longer require re-submission by the bidder of any already made submission. Please see Addenda instructions for further information.
The above practice change means that changes (including Q&As and Addendas) to BC Hydro opportunities will no longer be posted in the RFx Documents section of this Overview tab.
Please refer to the Addenda tab for any changes to this opportunity.
Supplier Registration
Interested suppliers should note that BC Bid has upgraded its platform and that registration (or re-registration) in the new platform is necessary in order to respond to any opportunity after May 30, 2022. Suppliers are encouraged to register on the new BC Bid platform, in accordance with BC Bid process requirements, well in advance of the Closing Time for the opportunity to which they may want to respond. Supplier registration can take a number of days to complete. Step-by-step guides are available to help users register and create their accounts. Failure to comply with BC Bid requirements is at the supplier’s own risk and BC Hydro does not assume any responsibility for the consequences of such non-compliance, including the supplier’s inability to submit a response to this or any other BC Hydro opportunity.

This RFP is for a contract that generally includes site assessment, design, manufacture and delivery of custom-fit animal mitigation material on an “as needed” basis throughout British Columbia. Services may also consist of technical support, including training of BC Hydro personnel relevant to proper installation of the supplied material. All substation equipment under 60 kV province-wide requires some degree of animal mitigation material in order to protect critical and costly equipment from animal-induced damages and outages. Custom-fit material is required and is generally recommended in geographic areas with high animal activity. The material is used to protect costly equipment such as bushings and potheads, bus supports and runs as well as cable and bus.
The Contract is expected to be for an initial term of 5 years, which may be extended for up to 4 years through one or more contract extensions, for a potential total term of 9 years.
This procurement may involve negotiation.
This opportunity is subject to Chapter 5 of the Canadian Free Trade Agreement.
All responses should be in English.
