    Description

    The Department of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has a requirement to research and develop a
    resistance spot welding procedure for the newest generation of advanced automotive steel and produce
    samples for mechanical testing. In addition, NRCan requires this work will be carried out with production
    replica machinery that is capable of monitoring welding process variables. The work will involve the
    following: development of a welding process window, collection and interpretation of dynamic welding
    process data (resistance, current, voltage), production of mechanical testing samples, metallurgical
    characterization of the welds, technical research report documents for NRCan. A final presentation on all
    results will need to be conducted onsite at CanmetMATERIALS laboratory.

    The estimated contract period will be 21 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2024/08/23.
