Description
The Correctional Service Canada has a requirement to replace the asphalt shingles on buildings: BC18, BC19, BC20, BC23, BC24, BC25, and FBE with standing seam steel roofing.
The Contractor must:
• Remove and dispose of the existing shingles, vents, flashing, soffit, and facia.
• Inspect the existing roof for damage and make the repairs as required. The Contractor must obtain the Project Authority’s written approval before proceeding with any repairs.
• Seal entire roof surfaces using a self-adhering weather stop membrane material.
• Supply and install a new snap-lock standing seam roof system. Provide all necessary accessories, ridges, hips, valleys, corners, flashing, closure members and fasteners to ensure weather tight installation.
• Provide roof panels that are between 16” and 24” wide and have a 24-gauge thickness. The panels must be base coated to inhibit rust and top coated with Kynar paint. The seams must be between 1.5” and 2” high.
• Provide roof clips and fasteners must be corrosion resistant.
• Supply and install new vents, flashings, soffit, and metal facia coverings to match the new roof colour. The Site Authority will determine the colour of the roof panels, flashing, soffit, and facia before the contractor begins any work.
• Supply and install the appropriate sealing materials to complete a weather tight finish to all areas of the roof.
• Supply and install new snow stops to all roof edges as per manufactures recommendations.
• Install all materials as per the manufactures recommendations and specifications. All materials must be new.
• Clean all areas around the building removing all scrap and debris from the project site each day of work.
• Provide a warranty with a minimum of 25 years on the coating and weather tightness. Supply in writing, warranties or guaranties covering materials and of the new roofs to the Site Authority.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 5 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2023/10/12.
