Description
In Manitoba, overdose from all drugs is a growing public health concern. Opioid drugs, such as fentanyl, morphine, oxycodone, codeine, and heroin, are of particular overdose concern because they can cause respiratory depression, which may lead to death. Manitoba Health (MH) has a number of resources and programs aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality associated with overdose, including a Take Home Naloxone distribution program.
Naloxone Hydrochloride (Naloxone) is a safe and effective opioid agonist that reverses overdose caused by opioid drugs. Manitoba provides Naloxone kit (kits) free-of-charge to people at risk of opioid overdose. The kits are made of several components and ampoules of medication. People at risk of an opioid overdose can get the free kits through registered sites across the province.
Manitoba is seeking the services of a Contractor (a licensed pharmacy) for the supply, and assembly of components in the Take Home Naloxone kits (excluding the Naloxone ampoules) and then have it shipped to the Provincial Vaccine Warehouse in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
