Description
This procurement involves the acquisition of a micro-XRF analyzer (RFP-43007-3a). These instruments will compose the Advanced Multi-Physical Infrastructure Materials Characterization Suite, a platform dedicated to the study of sustainable and durable infrastructure. The suite will enable the comprehensive evaluation of conventional and eco-efficient concretes, recycled aggregates, and other innovative materials under multi-physical conditions that combine mechanical loading with environmental actions. The integration of these instruments will support a research program aimed at advancing the design, rehabilitation, and climate adaptation of infrastructure systems.
The Micro-XRF analyzer will serve as the core compositional characterization tool within the Advanced Multi-Physical Infrastructure Materials Characterization Suite. It will provide non-destructive, spatially resolved elemental mapping of concretes, recycled aggregates, and eco-efficient binders, enabling the direct assessment of chemical gradients associated with deterioration mechanisms. The instrument will complement the CT-Scan system by linking microstructural damage with localized compositional changes, and it will be directly integrated with particle property assessments from the laser diffraction and shape analyzer. Its role is fundamental to establishing correlations between internal chemical signatures and durability performance in infrastructure materials.
