Description
Description:
This tendering document is issued to invite interested bidders to submit their proposals for the procurement of three (3X) (with an additional 4th one as an option) 10-15 litre Anaerobic Bioreactors. The Anaerobic Bioreactors will support the ongoing research at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Engineering, Environmental Laboratory (CBY-D407), on the application of the anaerobic digestion (AD) process for biogas production from organic wastes. The scope of work includes the following:
The Anaerobic Bioreactors will support the ongoing research at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Engineering, Environmental Laboratory (CBY-D407), on the application of anaerobic digestion (AD) process for biogas production from organic wastes. Organic wastes will be degraded through AD process and converted to biogas. The remaining organic wastes will be in the form of liquid digestate. The quantity of the produced biogas will be measured and recorded using a data acquisition system. The Anaerobic Bioreactor system will operate in a well-ventilated laboratory equipped with dedicated exhaust connections for each bioreactor and fixed gas detection systems for methane and hydrogen.
MANDATORY TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Three (X3) 10-15 litre Anaerobic Bioreactors (ABs)
1.1 The bioreactors must provide continuous or semi-continuous operation capability under anaerobic conditions with a minimum volume of 10L and a maximum of 15L.
1.2 Each AB must be equipped with a software platform and data acquisition system for continuous or semi-continuous operation capability under anaerobic conditions.
1.3 Each AB must be equipped with a mechanical mixing device with adjustable mixing speed.
1.4 Each AB must be equipped with a discharge valve and sampling ports for digestate/sludge from the working space and gas from the headspace.
1.5 Each AB must be equipped with a gas flow meter to monitor biogas production flow rate.
1.6 Each AB must be equipped with a temperature probe and temperature control (heating) system to maintain temperature in between 25° and 60° (included) Celsius range.
1.7 Each AB must be equipped with a pH probe of the digestate within the AB.
1.8 Each AB must be equipped with a pump to inject liquid chemical for anti-foaming or adjusting pH.
1.9 Each AB must be equipped with and an additional port to install a probe.
2. Requirements
2.1 Installation, testing and commissioning of the system at the designated site must be included.
2.2 Provision of technical support during the warranty period and beyond. The maximum acceptable repair time for addressing breakdowns or technical issues with the system must not exceed 30 business days.
2.3 Supplier must provide a Warranty covering all parts and labor for a minimum of 1 year.

The Anaerobic Bioreactors will support the ongoing research at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Engineering, Environmental Laboratory (CBY-D407), on the application of the anaerobic digestion (AD) process for biogas production from organic wastes. The scope of work includes the following:
- Supply and delivery of three (with an additional 4th one as an option) 10-15 liter Anaerobic Bioreactors (ABs) with automatic and software platform, and a data acquisition system for continuous or semi-continuous operation capability under anaerobic conditions.
- Installation, testing, and commissioning of the system at the designated site.
- Provision of technical support during the warranty period and beyond.
- Warranty coverage for a minimum of 1 year (Extended warranty should be available as an option).
- Compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, including Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC). The system shall be designed for safe operation in a ventilated laboratory environment where anaerobic bioreactors will be connected directly to ventilation ducts and fixed gas (methane and hydrogen) detection systems are installed. The system must be designed to prevent ignition risks in accordance with hazardous location requirements defined by the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Each Abs must be equipped with:
- A mechanical mixing device with adjustable mixing speed.
- A feeding and discharge valve, and sampling ports for digestate/sludge from the working space and gas from the headspace.
- A gas flow meter to monitor biogas production flow rate.
- A temperature probe and temperature control (heating) system to maintain temperature in between 25° to 60°(included) Celsius range.
- A pH probe to monitor pH of the digestate within the AB.
- A pump to inject liquid chemical for anti-foaming or adjusting pH.
- Must include an additional port to install a probe.
