The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery (MPBSD) will ensure that it is providing employees with disabilities, injuries or illnesses and their managers with access to a qualified Vendor listing for special medical, health and workplace assessments and support services.
Specialized assessments support effective disability management in the OPS and are, at times, a key component in keeping individuals in and returning them safely to work. Special assessments such as those described below are used to support employees to facilitate timely employment accommodation.
1 - Job Demands Analysis
The Job Demands Analysis is a detailed assessment of the physical, cognitive, behavioural (or psychosocial) and environmental requirements of a job(s).
2 - Disability Related Ergonomic Services
Ergonomic assessments will be conducted to identify appropriate accommodation options for employees with complex injuries or physical disabilities including but not limited to vision and hearing.
3 - Functional Abilities Evaluation Services
A Functional Abilities Evaluation (FAE) measures an Employee’s functional physical ability through a variety of standardized tests and activities.
4 - Assessment and Coordination Services (Independent Medical/Health Evaluations)
The services may include but are not limited to Orthopaedic, Neurological, Psychiatric, Forensic Psychiatric, Occupational Health, Physiatry, Psychological and Neuropsychological reviews or examinations.
5 - Job Coaching
A qualified practitioner works directly with an individual in the workplace to help him/her to relearn the work or approach the work in a manner that allows the worker to perform and meet the essential duties of the job.
6 – Comprehensive Vocational Assessment
A Comprehensive Vocational Assessment (CVA) is to determine an individual’s interests, abilities, aptitudes, skills, education, and employment experience and provide a transferable skills analysis.
