    Description

    Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) is one of the federal government departments responsible for meeting the Government of Canada's legal obligations and commitments to Aboriginal peoples (First Nations, Inuit and Métis), and for fulfilling the federal government's constitutional responsibilities in the North. INAC's activities and programs help fulfill these responsibilities. Approximately 2,700 employees within fifteen sectors are served by the Human Resources and Workplace Services Branch (HRWSB) of INAC in the National Capital Region (NCR). HRWSB performs human resources management and oversees various aspects of employment, such as compliance with labor law and employment standards, classification of positions, staffing and recruitment. The consultant will be hired to supplement the current resources in place.

    OBJECTIVE:

    As a representative of the Human Resources and Workplace Services Branch (HRWSB), the consultant will offer operational classification and/or staffing services to a client-portfolio, for non EX positions.

    SCOPE OF WORK:

    Getting acquainted with the mandate and the priorities of the client by reading, among other things, the business plan and the Human Resources plan will be necessary;

    Staffing and/or classification advice will need to be provided to managers including senior executives like Directors, Directors General, Assistants Deputy Ministers;

    Classification and/or appointment and recruitment processes will need to be prepared and managed on behalf of management that could implies, among other things, performing analysis of job activities and responsibilities, discussing with management on work assigned, revising current work descriptions and identifying changes to be made, performing desk audits with employees and writing work descriptions, and developing statements of merit criteria and assessment tools;

    Preparation of various Human Resources reports;

    Preparation of briefing notes and presentations;

    Making presentations as required.
