Objectives :
The Digital Forensics Unit (DFU), within the Criminal Investigations Division provides the technical expertise in the acquisition, processing, and analysis of digital devices in support of the CBSA’s criminal investigations mandate. The DFU consists of DFIs spread across 12 labs nationally. DFIs provide subject matter expertise on the extraction of digital evidence for criminal prosecutions and as such require continuously training in digital forensic techniques, tradecraft, and software in order to keep pace with changing digital technology and be credible court-certified experts. Digital devices and media are frequently encountered at ports of entry and during inland search warrant activities. These devices often contain significant quantities of evidence that are essential to successful enforcement and/or criminal prosecutions. Apple devices such as Apple MacBooks and iPhones are some of the numerous items that DFIs seize. BlackBag’s Blacklight and Macquisition software are a few of the forensic tools used by the DFU program, and one of the only tools capable of extracting and processing digital evidence from Apple operating systems.
1.2 Tasks and Deliverables :
The contractor must provide training using Blackbag Software on computer and electronic media, such as MacBooks and iPhones, to support various activities such as, but not limited to the following:
investigating criminal offenses
interdicting contraband material at port of entry
monitoring suspected terrorists,
gathering intelligence
extracting, processing, and interpreting digital from Apple operating systems
The contractor must provide the following :
Training using Blackbag Software on a virtual platform
Training material /documents/ guidelines that can be used as a reference for future users of the software
BlackBag certificate to each participant who passes the final exam.
1.3 Constraints
The contractor must provide training virtually and will not have access to any of the CBSA’s facilities, systems or documents.
The contractor will provide trial BlackBag software and sample case data so that attendees are able to learn by utilizing the software.
The contractor must give access and/or provide a virtual platform for the e-training session.
The contractor will not be travelling to give the training on site considering the world pandemic of COVID19.
