TASK Based Professional Services (TSPS) Requirement: 2.12 Evaluation Services Consultant - Research on the Effectiveness of Workplace Health and Safety Committees

The primary objective of the project is to design and conduct empirical research to examine the effectiveness of Workplace Health and Safety Committees (WHSCs) within small and medium-sized employers in both unionized and non-unionized settings in the federally regulated private sector (FRPS) and federal crown corporations. This research will:

1. examine and compare the process and outcome effectiveness of WHSCs between unionized and non-unionized settings;

2. identify and compare factors influencing the process and outcome effectiveness of WHSCs between unionized and non-unionized settings;

3. identify promising practices for WHSCs to improve their members’ occupational health and safety outcomes; and

4. provide policy and/or regulatory recommendations for the Labour Program to promote occupational health and safety outcomes.
