The contract includes supplying the excavator and its components, technical documentation, delivery, and training at Environment Canada, Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area, 570 Chemin du Cap Tourmente, Saint-Joachim, Quebec. Background: The mini excavator falls under the category of mini shovels for use in confined areas that can operate on 6-foot-wide hiking trails. This mini excavator must have a diesel engine with three or more cylinders that complies with environmental emissions standards. This excavator must be designed to operate off-road in wetlands and on difficult or rough terrain. It will be used mainly for work on hiking trails. The main work will involve levelling and reshaping trails, excavating ditches along the sides of trails to ensure effective drainage, removing debris such as stones and branches along the sides of hiking trails, and excavations close to buildings. This manoeuvrable, short-swing excavator will enable work on narrow sites with a 360-degree rotation to easily avoid and circumvent obstacles in forest areas. In addition, the excavator must have rubber tracks to avoid damaging infrastructure such as the bridges and walkways on the hiking trails in the Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area. This mini excavator can also be moved to carry out landscaping in other national wildlife areas in Quebec. It must have two buckets of different sizes with a hydraulic clamp (thumb) to firmly grab and move various objects. Lastly, the excavator must be equipped with a double-flight auger for the installation of sonotubes for signage projects in the network of protected areas. This Public Works and Government Services Canada office provides procurement services to the public in both official languages.
