    "THERE IS A SECURITY REQUIREMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FILE".
    
    Agriculture and Agri-Foods Canada (AAFC) has a requirement for
    the services of Senior Patent Agents (SPA) and Junior Patent
    Agents (JPA) on an "as and when requested basis", to protect its
    Intellectual Property (IP) in the following four Patent
    Categories:
    
    1.  Molecualr Technologies and Biological Control
    2.  Plant Patents and Plant Related Technologies
    3.  Processing and Related Product Patents and Equipment
    4.  Animal Health and Well Being
    
    AAFC files patents on apprximately 1 to 5 new inventions per
    year, conducts patentability and freedom to operate assessments
    on approximately 2 inventions per year and undertakes other
    actions related to Intellectual Property (IP) protection
    strategies.
    
    Patent filings will be primaril made in the United States of
    America and Canada; patents maty be filed in both Patent
    Corporation Treaty (PCT) countries and non-PCT countries.
    
    Bidders may bid on one or more or on all four Patent categories.
    It is Canada's intent to award a maximum of one (1) Standing
    Offer for each field of expertise (Patent Category), to a
    maximum of four (4) Standing Offers, as detailed in the Request
    for Standing Offer.
    
    Mandatory Requirement
    
    The firm must demonstrate it has the ability to offer  services
    in both official languages on an as needed basis either through
    bilingual patent agents on staff or through contracted
    translators at no additional charge to Canada.  
    
    The firm must provide evidence it has prosecuted at least two
    (2) patent families in which a patent has been issued in at
    least one (1) country outside of North America in the past five
    (5) years.
    
    Period of Standing Offer:  From date of award for a two year
    period with the inclusion of two 				         additional
    one-year options

    The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any
    procurement.
    
    Documents may be submitted in either official language of Canada.
