The Forage breeding lab at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Lethbridge Research and Development Centre is seeking to purchase a portable near-infra red spectrometry (NIRS) device. The device will be used to scan the standing forage crops in the field for predicting the nutritive value of the crops such as crude protein (CP), carbon content (CC), acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), lipid, soluble carbohydrates and ash; without taking cuttings or harming the plants in any way. To date, AAFC has been using a desktop based NIRS machine which requires harvesting the sample, drying them, then grinding them and finally scanning them. The new machine is expected to reduce amount of work necessary for scanning the samples and ultimately save labor, time, and financial resources. More importantly it can be done on standing plants in the nursery which will allow us to intercross selected plants by eliminating undesirable plants from the nursery. We are looking for a device with following minimum, mandatory specifications. 
The work consists of supply, delivery and on-site or web-based training of the device for the Forage breeding lab at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Lethbridge Research and Development Centre.
All of the work must be completed on or before March 31, 2021.
