    1.  TITLE: 
    DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF NANOTECHNOLOGY BASED BIOCHEMICAL
    IDENTIFICATION DEVICE
    
    2.  SECURITY:
    There is no security requirement associated with the requirement.
    
    3.  REQUIREMENT:
    Defence Research and Development Canada - Suffield Research
    Centre, Ralston, AB has a requirement for the development and
    testing of nanotechnology based biochemical identification
    device. A great deal of progress has been realised in the field
    of nanotechnology based sensors for sensing and identifying
    toxic compounds. DRDC has an ongoing research effort to exploit
    nanotechnologies for sensing applications to monitor the
    environment for the presence of toxic materials that may present
    a health and safety risk to the military. The aim of the project
    is to build and test the performance of biochemical sensing and
    identification device that exploits nano-wire technology.
    
    4. EVALUATION AND SELECTION:  
    Mandatory and point rated technical and management evaluation
    criteria are included in Annex "D" of the solicitation. 
    
    The responsive bid with the highest number of points will be
    recommended for award of a contract, provided that the total
    evaluated price does not exceed the budget available for this
    requirement.
    
    5. OWNERSHIP OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:
    Any intellectual property arising from the performance of the
    Work under the Contract will vest in the Contractor. 
    
    6.  MAXIMUM FUNDING: 
    The maximum funding available for the Contract resulting from
    the bid solicitation is $100,000.00 (Applicable Taxes extra).
    Bids valued in excess of this amount will be considered
    non-responsive. This disclosure does not commit Canada to pay
    the maximum funding available.
    
    7. PERIOD OF CONTRACT: 
    It is anticipated that any contract will be effective from date
    of contract to 2015-March-31 with the option to extend the term
    of the Contract by up to two (2) additional one (1) year
    periods.
